Week of August 30, 2010

Hi, we have an exciting week ahead. Open house will be held on Tuesday, August 31. The PTA will have their meeting at 6:30 followed by room visits. The 5th grade time is 7:20. I hope to see all of the parents there.

This Week:

Math – this week in math the students will practice multiplication skills. They will also learn estimation with products and decimal patterns. There will be a test on Wednesday covering adding and subtraction of decimals, multiplication, and estimation with products.

Spelling – the students will be given their spelling packets on Monday. There will be a test on Thursday and all homework is due on Thursday.

Language – the students will continue Caught Ya. They will also learn complex sentences and complete their essay on summer vacation.

Reading – the story this week is Ultimate Field Trip. There will be a test on Friday. A study guide will come home on Thursday.

Science – the students will learn about changes in states of matter and atoms this week.

Social Studies – the students will begin a project on the ancient empires this week.

Homework – (tentative)

Monday – math- pg. 16 and 17 in homework packet spelling- page 1 and 2 in packet

Tuesday – math- pg. 18 – spelling- page 3 reading – finish vocabulary (if needed)

Wednesday – math- pg. 12 and 13 spelling- page 4 and study for test

Thursday – math pg. 22 reading – read story and study for test
