30-September 3
6th Spelling:
We will be studying Unit 4 this week and will study words
with the long u sound that sometimes has the u-e pattern
.All unit activities are due first thing Friday morning
and tests will be on Friday.
6th Reading:
We are starting Unit 3 on All or Nothing words in our
purple vocabulary books. A test on this unit will be on
Friday. Students should be planning and reading for their
first book report which will be due the end of September.
The ideas for presentations were already sent home in
a bright yellow folder. This week students will be setting
their AR reading goals ,and I hope are trying to read
15-20 minutes each night. We will begin our class novel,
Crispin . It is a suspenseful story of a 13 year old boys
journey set in fourteenth- century medieval England.
Language Arts/Writing:
On Friday, we read the final
copies of the Perfect School. Needless to say they were
very creative and original. We will been continue reviewing
in CaughtYa, grammar rules and mechanics and are
learning to find errors in writing. These short lessons
will help improve their editing skills throughout the
year. In grammar we will be reviewing run on sentences,
fragments, sentence punctuation, and context clues and
should be ready for the unit test at the end of the week.
