Lake Harbor Middle School is excited
that it can offer a Drama Club for all interested
students. This club is a separate entity from
the Talented Drama Class. The Drama Club meets
after school once a week for two sessions, one
in the Fall and one in the Spring. Each semester
a flier is sent home with every student telling
about the play to be performed. This is a very
popular after-school activity, and since space
is necessarily limited, students are accepted
based on a first-come, first-served basis each
semester. The first thirty to forty students to
return their application and registration fee
are accepted.
In
addition to rehearsing roles and parts for the
play, students are given opportunities to learn
about all of the various activities involved in
producing a play and are taught the basic elements
of theater. They are involved in the designing
the stage setting and costumes. They learn about
stage picture, diction, and emotion. Participants
are required to audition and learn many things
about acting.
Near
the end of each semester, the club members present
their play several times to family members and
friends, each grade level of the student body,
and often perform elsewhere. The plays chosen
may be dramatic presentations, musicals, or comedies.
The
LHMS Drama Club is awesome!
