Congratulations to
Robin Mitchell
and the
Stand by Me Club
for being named one of Mrs. Sloan's finalists for the Superintendent's Award for Outstanding Character and Citizenship.

Lake Harbor's PTA funded fiveMini-Grants of $500 each. The grants will fund innovative ideas in the classroom. This year's winners (L to R) are: Cathe Salzer, Barbara Dooley, Peter Boye, Nancy Soine, and Roxanne Luquet.

Our 2004-2005 Student of the Year has just been named and her name is Nikki!! With all of the outstanding students nominated, it was a tough job for our selection committee, but Nikki certainly is a most worthy student. She now moves on to the St. Tammany Parish level. We are VERY proud of Nikki!

Students Play with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra

Our band director, Nancy Soine, has been selected as a lead teacher for a pilot program funded through Carnegie Hall. She was trained in New York City and will be leading this year's fourth graders to learn to play several pieces of classical music on recorders. In April, the students will actually be playing in a concert with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra in an interactive concert format.

LHMS Teachers 100% Intech Trained!!!!
During the 2003-2004 school year, 100% of our teachers went through an intense seven-day training entitled Intech in order to learn more about integrating technology into the classroom curriculum. It was lots of hard work, but everyone was excited and enthusiastic to take what they learned back to the classroom.
