This week…
We did it! We made it through our first full week of school!


Don't forget to turn in your permission slips for band tryouts, if you are interested. Time is running out!


Important Dates:
August 26 - Open House
Special Ed classes meet at 6:00, PTA meeting at 6:30, 6th grade will meet at 7:00, 5th grade at 7:20, and 4th grade at 7:40.


September 7 - Labor Day Holiday!!

Class Activities:
Spelling
This week our spelling words are: folks, greet, oak, theme, aim, grind, paid, bride, prey, growth, paste, tow, yolk, heap, plead, spice, greed, coach, shave, type, tenth, damp, stuff, decay, and lifetime. Our spelling test will be held on Friday. Spelling homework is to be turned in on Friday.

Math
This week we will continue to work with place value. We will be looking at decimals and determining their size when compared to other decimals. We will be working on expanded form as well as word form of all numbers. We will have our first place value quiz on Wednesday, as well as a possible quiz on Friday.

Science & Social Studies
This week, in Science, we will be discussing physical properties of objects. We will be reading Unit E, Chapter 1, Lesson 1, and we will be taking guided notes. We will have a test on this unit on Friday. Notes can be used on the test. In Social Studies we will be working on our map skills and we will start reading Unit 1, Chapter 1, Lesson 1 in our textbooks.


Reading and Language Arts
We will be reading the story "Davy Crocket Saves the World" from our basal readers. We will continue to read our books for our book reports. Remember…book report books are to be read in class. We will be learning about complete and simple subjects and predicates and commas in a series. We will take a test on this on Friday and our test on the story will be held on Thursday.
