A Message From The Teacher

Rules:
In order to maintain a positive classroom environment, all students are expected to help the class. LHMS students help the class by:
1. listening to and following the teacher's directions,
2. staying in control at all times,
3. having a pleasant attitude towards others, and
4. respecting the people, equipment, and property of LHMS.
Consequences:
If a student does not help the class, he / she will progress through the following consequences:
1. Time out from participation.
2. Recess detention.
3. Referral to the office. (Extreme behavior may warrant immediate referral.)

Grading
:
All students will receive a grade in Physical Education each nine weeks. The grade will be based on the following components:
1. Participation
2. Effort
3. Skill ability
4. Sportsmanship
5. Quizzes and tests
Dress Code:
For the safety of the students, appropriate dress is required for Physical Education. Students must wear:
- socks
- tennis shoes with a full back
-shorts, pants, or skorts
If a student cannot be dressed appropriately due to extenuating circumstances, please send a note to the Physical Education teacher, so that the student will not lose participation points from their daily grade.

Alternate
Activities:
Students without a written excuse who are dressed inappropriately will lose participation points from their daily grade, and will not be allowed to participate in the planned activities. These students may still earn effort points towards their daily grade if they successfully complete one of the following alternate activities:
- if class is held inside, the student will complete a written assignment;
- if class is held outside, the student will complete another assigned physical activity.

Illness
and Injuries:
If a student is ill or injured, he / she must bring a note from a doctor, parent, or guardian stating the limitations of participation or the exclusion from activity. If the student is limited or excluded from activity for an extended period of time, please send a note when he / she may resume normal activity. Students will not be excused from participating if they do not have a note!

I look forward to a fun and productive school year at Lake Harbor Middle School. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to contact me at school, 674-4440.

Sincerely,
Ms. Luquet
