We are in need of some supplies! It looks as though we are running low or losing items already. I know some scissors have broke already. Please check with your child to make sure they have working scissors at school. If they have been misplaced or are broken, please send a new pair. If anyone would like to donate to the class we are in need of scotch tape refills for dispenser. Thanks in advance with the supplies

This Friday 10/3, there is no school due to the St. Tammany Parish Fair holiday. If you visit the fair, please check out the LHMS booth. This is being prepared by our 5th grade students and teachers, who are working very hard on this.

Now is the time to order your LHMS yearbook. This is the first year it will be in FULL COLOR!! A form was already sent home for this, or you can order online through our school website.

Please send in school-appropriate magazines that you will no longer need. We will be using them for a project this week.

Scholastic Book Orders will be due this Wednesday, 10/8. If you wish to order, please make checks payable to Scholastic.

We have just 7 school days to go in this grading period to reach your AR goal. Keep reading! ?

This Week’s Lessons:

Math: We will begin Unit 2 on Mathematical Strategies. There will be a quiz during the week. In class assignment will be graded.
**Please continue studying multiplication facts!!! It is imperative that the students memorize these to be successful this year in math.

Reading: We will begin reading the novel Stone Fox, which will take about 2 weeks. Vocabulary from Ch. 1-5 will be tested Thursday. Book report instructions are being sent home Tuesdsay in your child’s test folder. These will be due October 24.

Language: We will begin work on nouns. In-class work will be graded.

Spelling: We will cover Unit 2 from the “Treasures” series this week. The spelling lists are in the students’ binder and the test will be Thursday.

Science: We will continue to learn about heat and energy. This will be tested Thursday.
