Weekly Overview

August 30 - September 3

Math: Students will practice comparing and ordering fractions, writing decimals as fractions and fractions as decimals. We will test on this on Wednesday. No use of calculators for this assessment. In Connected Math, Data Around Us we will revisit ways that numbers are used in measurement to describe objects and events. We will begin to build a repertoire of measurement benchmarks for use in relating measurement information to things that are personally meaningful.

Science: We are still on target to test on our science reinforcers by Wednesday . We will finish discussing them by Tuesday. They will evaluate our last class experiment using the Scientific Method. Continuing our discussion of the ways scientists measure and evaluate data, students will work with optical illusions, how to use the metric system, reading graduated cylinders, and measuring line segments.
