Happy Monday! Happy
final nine weeks! Report Cards will be sent home on Thursday,
3/18 in your child's Graded Paper Folder. Please return
the signed Graded Paper Folder by Monday, 3/22. The Report
Card is yours to keep and display! Remember all students
will again start out with 100% for their math homework
grade. They will also have the opportunity to earn an
"A" for spelling homework. Of course, it is
to the students' benefit to earn "A's" in homework
as this can have a positive impact on their final grade.
Finally, papers with a grade lower than a "C"
can be corrected to earn partial credit. The student will
receive this credit if the following guidelines are met.
The papers must be signed, corrected, and returned by
the following Monday from when they were received. The
corrections are made on loose leaf and are thorough and
correct. All written work must be corrected as well in
order to receive credit. Finally, homework or past due
work cannot be made up. Thank you for your involvement
and understanding.
FIELD TRIP
As of now, we have been told that we will be able to make
up the missed portion of our field trip to Big Branch
that was shortened due to the weather. This will be held
some time in May. All students who signed up for the first
field trip will be able to go and all that will be required
of them is to have another signed permission slip. Those
students who did not sign up for the initial filed trip
will not be able to attend. Sorry. I'd like to really
thank our chaperones who were such troopers and tolerated
the elements! The student did great as well! It certainly
was memorable!

-TENTATIVE WEEKLY OVERVIEW-
SPELLING-We will be focusing on the spelling words with
the endings /n/ and /l/. These words can be found in the
spelling spiral on pp. 97-101. Remember all spelling homework
(pp. 98-101) is due Friday and should be headed correctly
and completed in cursive handwriting. Both spelling tests
will be given on Friday.
READING- We will
read the story, Goin' Someplace Special in our textbooks.
We will have a comprehension/vocabulary test on Friday.
LANGUAGE-We will finalize Unit 11, which focuses on adverbs.
We will take the final unit test on Wednesday. Your child
will be given a practice test to complete, which will
be due on Tuesday. The practice test will be counted as
a homework grade. We are going to really concentrate on
Written and Illustrated, which is a tremendous undertaking!
It would be very beneficial if your child could complete
some of the typing of his/her diary entries at home as
computers are limited. If he/she does choose to type some
of the entries at home, they can either be emailed to
me or saved on a flash drive that can go to/from school.
This would be very helpful!
MATH-We will finalize the first chapter on fractions,
percentages, and decimals. We will take the chapter 7
test on Thursday.
SCIENCE-We will be learning about direct and indirect
development. We will also be focusing on a frog's life
cycle. We will take a test on these concepts on Wednesday.
Your child will have prepared a study guide for this test,
which will also be turned in for a grade.
SOCIAL STUDIES- We will finish chapter six and present
skits on the topics covered in chapter six. We will then
take an open book test on chapter six probably some time
next week.
HAVE A GREAT WEEK!
