Greek Mythology

Greek Mythology was mostly used to explain things in nature. They believed that many different gods and goddesses lived high up on Mt. Olympus and controlled everything. When the Greeks experienced bad weather then the Gods were mad. When they had a bountiful harvest the Gods were happy.

The Greeks had a rather strict religion with temples of worship and other things like some religions of today. They even fought wars for their gods. They had different descriptions of each god. One God would be the messenger. Another the war God. In the eyes of the Greeks their Gods and Goddesses always fought with each other and were quick to punish humans for even the slightest thing. Most of their punishments were harsh, like when Prometheus stole fire from the Gods they chained him to a rock and made an eagle eat his liver every day.
