Mission


Apollo 7's purpose was to test the Command module for future flights. It was more comfortable than any past space mission. It had hot meals, and relatively complete freedom made this possible. Also, it spent more time in space than all the Russian flights combined prior to it.

Born March 12, 1923, in Hackensack, New Jersey.

Mr. Donn Eisele

Born June 23, 1930, in Columbus, Ohio.
Bachelor of science in astronautics from U.S. Naval Academy; master of science in astronautics from U.S. Air Force Institute of Technology.
Flew on Apollo 7.
Cumulative hours of spaceflight are more than 260.
Died December 2, 1987, in Tokyo, Japan, of a heart attack.

Mr. Walt Cunningham

Boorn March 16, 1932, in Creston, Iowa. Bachelor and master of arts in physics from University of California at Los Angeles; Advanced Management Program, Harvard Graduate School of Business. Flew on Apollo 7.
