What
is Think Quest?
ThinkQuest
is an online program/competition which partners
students, teachers, parents, and technologists
to do online research and create an educational
website that students and adults around the world
can use. The ThinkQuest World encompasses young
people, educators and technologists in more than
100 nations who come together as digital learners,
web creators, and Net entrepreneurs.
Students
work with a coach in small teams of no more that
five students to investigate a topic of their
choice in a subject area such as math, literature,
science, social studies, etc. Students learn how
to do critical thinking about their selected topic
and learn to organize their research into a format
that will educate others. Once research is complete,
students work together with the coach(s) to create
a web site which employs all of the creative,
as well as legal, tools available.
As
part of the program, students attend a three day
"ThinkQuest Camp" where they learn all
about copyrights, quoting sources, how to use
the software to create their web sites, and lots
more. The team members then meet at least once
a week with their coaches to work on their project.
