Believe it or not, we are almost ready to enter the last nine weeks of this school year!! March will be a very busy month at Lake Harbor, please continue to check our school/classroom websites for important events taking place. Spring Testing, Art Adventure Day, Field Day, World Culture Day, Evening With the Stars, Teacher Appreciation, Written and Illustrated Book Sharing, Grade Level Picnics, Award Ceremonies, Chorus and Violin recital, Talented Music recital, and Spring Band Concert are just a few of the special occasions you will want to look out for in the next few months.

Thanks to our wonderful PTA committees and ALL parents/grandparents who came out to volunteer their time for our students at all of our recent events. We hope that all of our awesome volunteers will get a chance to join us for Field Day and enjoy lunch/desserts at our Volunteer Luncheon on March 28th! We appreciate everyone - moms, dad, grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc. who have helped us in some way this school year!

LEAP Testing for 5th and 6th grade levels will take place throughout the MONTH of April (computer-based portion). Teachers will be given a schedule of the days that their students will be tested so you will know ahead of time. Everyone is NOT tested on the same day. 4th grade students will take the LEAP test the first week of May on paper, with ALL students taking the Science portion on paper on May 5th. We do need help from ALL parents to make sure your children arrive to school ON TIME and are well rested during testing periods. Please try to not make any appointments on these dates for your children if at all possible! Even after testing is over it is still very important that absences are kept to a minimum because it continues to affect our school performance score and your child’s education. We are not positive when we will receive test scores this school year; however, report cards will be mailed and more information about scores will be communicated to you at a later date.

Tardies continue to be a problem with students arriving to school late. It is very important that all students are at school by bell time, 8:05. If they arrive after 8:10, they are losing instructional time in the classroom. Please leave home a few minutes earlier than usual or have your child ride the school bus. Students are NOT allowed to get out of the car in the parking lot OR in the bus loading zone. That becomes a safety issue when this occurs. Thanks for your cooperation in this matter for the remainder of the school year.
Just a reminder that we will begin the process of assigning students to classrooms for next year soon. Please see important information regarding placement and the date needed, in our April/May PTA newsletter. It is always helpful to know any special concerns or needs you have regarding your child's placement. We appreciate your input into this process!

Thank you for your continued support and if I can be of any assistance to you or your child, please call at (985) 674-4440 or e-mail at susan.patin@stpsb.org.
