Great Job!

PTA Educator of Distinction

Mrs. Benton was awarded the Lake Harbor PTA Educator of Distinction Award, 2007-2008. LHMS sixth grade teacher, Mrs. Tammy Benton, has promoted the PTA food drives and her class has consistently won the sixth grade food drive contests. She has supported the PTA with 100% of her students contributing either an essay for My Louisiana or artwork for the Safety Poster contest. Her class reached over 200% membership in the PTA membership drive. Mrs. Benton helped the PTA by contributing to the Internet Safety seminar and is a PTA member. She recently started the LHMS Builders Club to reach more students with a message of giving. Thanks for all you do and congratulations Mrs. Benton!

Congratulations to everyone who signed up during the PTA Membership Drive! Lake Harbor has reached 100% membership in every class! Popcorn parties are being scheduled for every classroom. Details to follow.

Why join the LHMS PTA? Where do your dollars go?

As a member of the PTA, your dollars support many programs. In 2007-2008 the LHMS PTA plans to support the following programs:

· Major financial support for Cultural Arts, including Young Audiences performances, the Written & Illustrated program, Art Adventure Day, and World Culture Day

· Major financial support for technology, including purchasing educational software and services, Accelerated Reader quiz purchases, and computer supplies for every teacher

· Major volunteer support for library, office, and numerous school activities

· Annual teacher mini-grant awards

· Support of monthly LHMS Newsletter, The Beacon
