How to Access Teacher Webpages
How Parents Access Teacher Websites
1. Go to Student Progress Center website: https://jpams.stpsb.org/progress/
2. Log into your child's account. If you have not registered an account for your child yet, you will need to contact the school secretary and ask for your child's 8 digit student ID number and the parents PSN number. You can then register your child.
3. Once you are logged in, click on your child's picture OR the grey box that says no image.
4. Click on the tab at the top that says Pages.
5. On the left hand side click on one of your child's classes.
6. Look to the right hand side and click on the word attachment to view each week's newsletter. Click on the file when it opens.
7. Check out the calendar for school events. You can click on the three lines to the rig would like to view on your calendar.
Please check student agendas nightly for any changes!

Utilizing Text-To-Speech
You can hear full pages read aloud with Chromebook’s built-in screen reader or hear parts of a page, including specific words, read aloud with Select-to-speak.

You can hear full pages read aloud with Chromebook’s built-in screen reader or hear parts of a page, including specific words, read aloud with Select-to-speak.
Listen to all text
To have pages read aloud to you, turn on your Chromebook’s built-in screen reader:
- At the bottom right, select the time. Or press Alt + Shift + s.
- Select Settings .
- At the bottom, select Advanced.
- In the "Accessibility" section, select Manage accessibility features.
- Under "Text-to-Speech," turn on Enable ChromeVox (spoken feedback).
Note: You can turn Chromevox on or off from any page by pressing Ctrl + Alt + z. Learn more about how to use the built-in screen reader.
Listen to part of a page
To select specific text on a page to be read to you, turn on Select-to-speak.
Step 1: Turn on Select-to-speak
- At the bottom right, select the time. Or press Alt + Shift + s.
- Select Settings .
- At the bottom, select Advanced.
- In the "Accessibility" section, select Manage accessibility features.
- Under "Text-to-Speech," turn on Enable select-to-speak.
Step 2: Select and hear text
Important: Depending on your keyboard, you can press the Search key or the Launcher key for some shortcuts. Both keys work the same.
- To select what text you’d like to hear:
-
- Press and hold the Search key and click a line of text.
- Press and hold the Search key and drag the pointer over an area of the screen.
- Highlight the text and press the Search key + s.
- At the bottom right, near the time, select Select-to-speak . Then select a line of text or drag the pointer over an area of the screen.
- On a touchscreen: At the bottom right, near the time, tap Select-to-speak . Then tap a line of text or drag your finger over an area of the screen.
- Your Chromebook will read the section aloud and each word will be highlighted.
- To stop Select-to-speak while it’s reading, press Ctrl or the Search key . You can also select Stop .
Highlight or shade background text
If you are using Select-to-speak, each word will be highlighted as it's spoken. You can turn off highlighting, change the color of the highlighted words, or shade the screen behind selected text.
- At the bottom right, select the time. Or press Alt + Shift + s.
- Select Settings .
- At the bottom, select Advanced.
- In the "Accessibility" section, select Manage accessibility features.
- Under "Text-to-Speech," turn on “Select-to-speak.”
- Select Open select-to-speak settings. Under “Highlighting,” you can:

- Turn on Highlight each word as it is spoken.
- Select a color next to “Color for word highlights.” Tip: To get the strongest contrast, we recommend using green or pink, especially if you’re using high contrast mode.
- Turn on Shade background content: This allows you to shade the whole screen, except for the text being spoken.
Change the language or voice
- At the bottom right, select the time. Or press Alt + Shift + s.
- Select Settings .
- At the bottom, select Advanced.
- In the "Accessibility" section, select Manage accessibility features.
- Under "Text-to-Speech," select Text-to-Speech voice settings.

Chromebook Troubleshooting Tips
If your Chromebook isn’t charging, or not turning on:
- Check to see if the battery is charging.
- Plug Chromebook into power outlet. Red light – charging
White light – fully charged
- Charge for at least 30 minutes.
- Check all power connections. Try plugging the charger directly into the power outlet.
- Inspect the charger. Check for any physical damage, and make sure the power cable is firmly attached to the adapter brick and to the Chromebook.
- Verify the outlet is working by plugging something else into the outlet.
- If your Chromebook is slow, check for the newest version of the Chrome operation system.
- Click on the time on the bottom right of the taskbar.
- Click on the Settings gear.
- On the left side, click on About Chrome OS.
- Under Google Chrome OS, click Check for Updates.
- If your Chromebook finds a software update, it will start to download automatically.
If your Chromebook displays an error when accessing a specific webpage (such as: “Aw, Snap!” and “This webpage is unavailable”)
- Check your Internet connection.
- Clear cached images, files, cookies, and other site data.
- Close other tabs, apps, and extensions.
How to clear cache and cookies:
- Open Google Chrome.
- At the top-right, find the 3 dots.
- Click More tools > Clear browsing data.
- At the top, select All time,
- Next, check the Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files, leave the other options unchecked.
- Click Clear data.
If your Chromebook crashes or freezes:
- Turn off the Chromebook using the power button.
- Turn it back on.
- Close all apps and browser windows.
- If a specific tab causes it to freeze, hard refresh the page: Ctrl + Shift + r
If the previous tips do not fix your Chromebook, perform a hard reset of your Chromebook.
- Turn off your Chromebook.
- Press and hold the refresh ( ) key + tap the power ( ) button.
- When the Chromebook starts up, release the refresh key.
Updating your Chromebook
How to complete a Chrome book OS update:
1. Connect your Chrome book to the Internet.
2. Log in to your Chrome book using your STPSB credentials. Remember your username is your student ID.
3. Click on the time found on the right side of your taskbar.
4. Enter the settings menu using the gear icon.
5. Click on About Chrome OS on the bottom of the left column.
6. Select Check for updates option.
7. Once the update finishes downloading, click Restart.

How To Join a Google Classroom
How to join a Google Classroom
1. Connect your Chrome book to the Internet.
2. Log in to your Chrome book using your STPSB credentials. Remember your username is your student ID.
3. Type google.com in your address bar and press enter.
4. When the page loads, you will see a circle with the first letter of your name and an icon that looks like a waffle on the right side of your screen.
5. Click on the waffle.
6. When the menu opens, you will select Google Classroom.
7. This is your Google Classroom. Once you have joined your classes, they will be found here.
8. To join a class, you need to click the + sign on the top right corner of your screen.
9. At this time, you will be prompted to enter your Class Code.
10. Finally, you will have to select your role in the class. You will be a student.
How to Login to Google Classroom Without Using a Chromebook
How to Sign in to Your STPSB Google Account without Using Your Chromebook
1. In the address bar of your internet browser, type in google.com and press enter.
2. Click the Sign In button on the top right corner of your screen.
3. Enter your student email address in the email box and click Next. Your student email address is studentID#@student.stpsb.org .
4. Sign in to your STPSB account using your STPSB Username (Student ID) and Password.
5. Verify that the email address is yours. Then, accept the user agreement.
